At 28 September the registration was closed. Any additional guest who has accreditation for entering the European Parliament is welcome to participate.

You are warmly invited to participate in a conference on the topic of protection of converts in EU foreign affairs policy. The conference is hosted by Mr. Bas Belder MEP (SGP/EFD) and Mr. Peter van Dalen MEP (ChristenUnie/ECR) in co-operation with the European Christian Political Foundation.

At 24 June, during the European Council meeting on foreign affairs, the EU guidelines on the promotion and protection of freedom of religion or belief were adopted. With this step freedom of religion or belief has been reaffirmed as a key principle for EU foreign affairs policy.

One aspect of this principle is the protection of converts, which is mentioned in the new guidelines (article 38 & 39).

This conference will focus at the interpretation and implementation of this aspect of EU foreign affairs policy.

As organising partners we welcome and look forward to the contribution of a number of expert speakers who are politically, professionally or by personal experience involved in this issue.

Speakers are:

  • Mrs. Laima Andrikienė MEP (TS-LKD/EPP)
  • Mr. Magdi Allam MEP (Io Amo Italia/EFD)
  • Mrs. Kathryn Kraft PhD. (Expert sociologist) TBC
  • Mrs. Esther Kattenberg (Open Doors)
  • Representative EEAS (TBC)

Mr. Bas Belder will open the conference and the conclusions will be presented by Mr. Peter van Dalen.

We look forward to your participation. More information on the program will be available soon.
